iPhone Permissions
When installing and setting up the MMGuardian app for your child’s iPhone, you will be guided to enable some permissions, such as location and photos access. These are required to provide important parental control functions.
If a permission is not granted during initial configuration, then it is still possible to enable the permission at a later date. However, it will need to be enabled from within the Settings app of your child’s iPhone, and not from within the MMGuardian app.
The easiest way to make these changes is:
- Open the Settings app, on your child’s iPhone or iPad
- Scroll to the bottom and select “Apps”
- Scroll to, and select, MMGuardian
- Various permissions and other app settings will be seen.
- Tap on a permission to change the setting.
The important permissions, and their optimal settings are:
- Location – Always Allowed, and Precise Location
- Photos – Full Access
- Mobile Data – On
- Background App Refresh – On
It is also recommended to enable Notifications – as a minimum as Banner, but ideally all. This is so that your child will be able to see reminder alerts such as those issued 5 minutes before an app is about to be blocked (due to time based app usage restrictions).
