MMGuardian Messaging App

If you are reading this page as a result of having received an alert from the child phone app related to the need to enable the messaging app to continue to receive SMS reports or to be able to block SMS messages, please see the steps below.

Note: For application versions up to and including 3.6.0, it was possible to register and set up the MMGuardian app for a child’s phone before enabling the messaging app function. It may therefore be the case that this step was not performed. For application versions after 3.6.0, it is necessary to set the application to be the phone’s default messaging app before the MMMGuardian application can be registered. Hence the alert would be sent should an older version of the MMGuardian application be updated to a newer version.

HOW TO ENABLE THE MMGUARDIAN MESSAGING APP: Easy Method
– Find the messaging app icon (see below) in the list of apps installed on your child’s phone.
– Tap on the messaging app icon
– You’ll be guided to enable the messaging app as the default messaging app
– Your child will then use the MMGuardian Messaging app for SMS and MMS messages
Note: If you can not quickly find the messaging app icon, it may be faster to use the alternate method below.

HOW TO ENABLE THE MMGUARDIAN MESSAGING APP: Alternate Method
– Open the child phone app by tapping on the main MMGuardian app icon (see below)
– Enter your admin password.
– Tap on the menu item top right (three dots)
– Select Settings
– Near the bottom there is a button for the MMG Messaging app, turn that on
– Then agree to the use of this app as the phone’s default messaging app
– Your child will then use the MMGuardian Messaging app for SMS and MMS messages
