stands for Original Character.
OC
is an internet slang initialism referring to a minor character in an existing canon whose role is being expanded by a fanfiction writer or a completely new character who exists in the reality of a published canon.
The explosion of fanfiction is one of the phenomena of the creation of the internet. Original characters are non-commercial creations developed by fanfiction writers who use source media as their foundation to expand the orginal story. A few of the popular series that inspire fanfiction are Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Star Wars.
